NYY-J / NYY-O PVC Insulated PVC Sheathed Power Cable, 0.6/1 kV
NYY Cable
0.6/1 kV copper power cable with PVC insulation and PVC sheath, supplied as NYY-J or NYY-O for fixed installation
NYY is the international designation buyers use for a copper conductor, PVC insulated, PVC sheathed 0.6/1 kV power cable for fixed installation. We supply it as NYY-J, which includes a green/yellow earth core, and as NYY-O. The cable runs on the same PVC extrusion lines as our VV range, but an NYY order is built and marked to the NYY construction in your specification, not shipped as a relabelled VV cable.
What is NYY Cable?
NYY describes a copper cable with PVC insulation and a PVC outer sheath for fixed installation at 0.6/1 kV. The suffix concerns the earth core. In common industry usage NYY-J is the version with a green/yellow protective core and NYY-O is the version without one; NYY-J is the one most tenders ask for when the cable feeds a board or a motor. Because designations and colour codes vary between specifications, please send the project standard, J or O, and the core colour sequence with your inquiry. The final construction and size/core combination are confirmed against your tender before production rather than guessed.
Why a separate page from our PVC (VV) cable? The two are close in construction, and both use Huanghe's PVC compound and copper conductor. The difference is paperwork and detail. VV is a Chinese GB designation. A buyer who writes NYY on a purchase order expects the NYY core colours, marking and test documents that go with it. So we treat NYY as its own order: we confirm the construction against the standard you name, print NYY on the sheath, and issue factory test records for that construction.
NYY is a fixed-installation cable. It is used in buildings, on trays and in ducts, and it can be laid in ground where the local practice allows unarmoured cable. Where the route needs mechanical protection, the steel tape armoured version is NYBY, which we build as Cu/PVC/DSTA/PVC.
Key features
- Copper conductor: solid Class 1 or stranded Class 2
- PVC insulation and PVC outer sheath, rated 0.6/1 kV
- NYY-J with green/yellow protective core; NYY-O without protective core
- 1 to 5 cores, plus 3+1, 3+2 and 4+1 unequal-core designs; size/core combination confirmed against your tender
- PVC: 70 °C maximum service temperature, 160 °C short-circuit (5 s max)
- Armoured NYBY (double steel tape) for routes that need mechanical protection
- Sheath marking and drum lengths to your order
Typical applications
- Main and sub-main feeders in commercial and industrial buildings
- Supply to distribution boards, motors and pumps on fixed routes
- Cable trays, ladders and ducts in plants and utility rooms
- Ground and duct routes where the local practice accepts unarmoured PVC cable
- Projects whose tender, drawings or approved-materials list are written with NYY designations

The NYY-J / NYY-O entry sits in the factory's PVC insulated PVC sheathed power cable table. VV and NYBY rows are listed so you can see how the international and Chinese designations line up in our production. Cross-section ranges are the factory family capability, not a promise that every core count is made in every size; the final construction and size/core combination are confirmed against your tender.
Custom sizes available on request — send us your project specification.

Send the NYY construction from your tender
Insulation and sheath thickness, overall diameter and weight follow the standard named in your specification, so we quote them per order rather than from a generic table. Send the project standard, cores and sizes, J or O, and your core colour code. The final construction and size/core combination are confirmed against your tender, and we reply with a datasheet for that exact build.
What to send us for an NYY cable quote
- NYY-J or NYY-O, the project standard, and the core colour sequence
- Cores × cross-section for each size, e.g. 4×16 mm² or 3×95+1×50 mm²
- Conductor: solid Class 1 or stranded Class 2
- The standard named in the tender or approved-materials list
- Unarmoured NYY or armoured NYBY
- Sheath marking text and colour
- Quantity per size, drum length, and destination port
- Test documents or third-party inspection required at shipment

Frequently asked questions about NYY Cable
Q.What is the difference between NYY and VV cable?
Both are copper, PVC insulated, PVC sheathed 0.6/1 kV cables and both come off our PVC lines. NYY is the international designation and VV is the Chinese GB designation. We do not ship VV under an NYY label: an NYY order is checked against the NYY construction in your specification, marked NYY and documented as NYY.
Q.What does NYY-J mean?
In common industry usage NYY-J is the NYY cable with a green/yellow protective core, and NYY-O is the version without one. Because specifications differ, send the project standard and the core colours with your inquiry; the final construction and size/core combination are confirmed against your tender before production.
Q.Can NYY cable be buried?
It is a fixed-installation cable used indoors, on trays, in ducts and, where local practice allows, in ground. For routes that need mechanical protection, use NYBY (steel tape armoured) or our SWA cable.
Q.Is your NYY cable certified?
We do not hold a CCC or CB certificate that names NYY. The CB certificates cover specified IEC 60502-1 XLPE-insulated 0.6/1 kV constructions; they do not name PVC-insulated NYY, so we do not apply them here. NYY is built and tested to the standard in your tender; if the tender requires a third-party type test or inspection, tell us at the inquiry stage.
Q.What is the temperature rating?
PVC insulation is rated 70 °C in service and 160 °C for a short circuit of up to 5 seconds. Do not install below 0 °C.
Q.Do you publish NYY dimensions and weights?
Not as a generic table, because they depend on the standard in your tender. Send the standard and sizes and we return a datasheet with overall diameter, weight and drum lengths for that build.
Q.What is the MOQ and lead time?
Standard LV cable MOQ is 200 m per specification; below MOQ, ask us about stock availability. Standard LV lead time is 7–15 days after the 30% deposit and approved drawings; the actual time depends on the specifications and our production schedule. Sea freight to your port is additional.
